1st December Florida Beach Health Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. As a part of Florida Master Naturalist Tony Mauriello’s Nature at Noon series, this interpretive program will be an introduction to several factors impacting the health of Florida’s beaches. We will discuss current topics like red tide and blue green algae, explore the differences between water quality and water clarity, and end with technological advancements that are helping keep our waters healthy. 3rd December Eternal Vigilance Film Screening Friday at 6:00 p.m. FEES: $30 per participant, includes park entry fee As a part of the Friends of Lovers Key's What You See on the Land, Lands in the Sea speaker series, this event is a screening of the film, Eternal Vigilance: Saving Estero Bay. The 26-minute film is a historical account of the extraordinary individuals whose vision and commitment to the establishment of Florida's first state aquatic preserve led to the designation of its tributaries as “Outstanding Florida Waterways”. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Calusa Waterkeeper John Cassani. Space is limited; advance ticket purchase is required. |
